Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, Kotda Santaur, Nanda Ki Chowki Premnagar, Dehradun observed World TB Day on 24th March, 2018 as per guidelines of the State Task Force (RNTCP), Uattarakhand and IAPSM, co-ordinated by the Department of Community Medicine and supervised by Prof. Debabrata Roy, HOD and Prof. Shailendra Kumar, Nodal officer for the initiative.
The activities done on this occasion spanning during 24th March-30th March, 2018 included Community Sensitization Awareness, Active Case Finding, Health Practitioners’ (Pvt.) Survey, Community KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, Practice) study by the students, Specialty Camp and BCC Stall in OPD enclosure of Dr. KKBM Hospital .
A rally flagged off by Prof. Rajesh Misra, Principal, Shridev Suman Subharti Medical College was taken out from RBBSU Campus to Nanda ki Chowki by about 400 students of various faculty of the University. The students carried banners and placards with messages on effective theme to ‘End TB’ and to generate/sensitize the community on importance of taking appropriate measures to prevent the disease.
The students also enacted street plays to emphasize the importance of prevention of Tuberculosis and provisions by the Govt. of free diagnostic facilities and treatment at DOTs centres across the state.
The students also participated in Quiz and Poster competition and awarded prizes. Besides, the students participated in Active Case Finding activity followed by field microscopy and Survey of the Pvt. Practitioners. The students also conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with the community to assess their knowledge, attitude & practice related to Tuberculosis.
Specialty Camps at Rural & Urban Health training Centers were also held.
